what is it about ellipses
that makes them so attractive to terrifyingly not stable people posting on the internet?
I think the rough breakdown of ellipsis use on internet forums is as follows:
5% appropriate, grammatical use
10% casual, context-appropriate use that the MLA might not condone but I do
15% gif captions
70% crazypants dangerous people typing their version of normal sentences
“I just… can’t understand…….. women…..”
and they can never understand women, though that might go without saying
Ellipses are the universe’s way of telling me to GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM THAT PERSON RIGHT FUCKING NOW IT CAN ONLY END POORLY.
